Yoyo tricks, demystified.

A catalog of yoyo tricks across every recognized competition style — 0A, 1A, 2A, 3A, 4A, 5A, and picture tricks — with step-by-step execution, tips, and the underlying physics. Tricks are graded on a 1–9 scale, from a first sleeper to landings like Black Hops and Kamikaze.

All tricks by style

3A Two-handed string tricks

Two unresponsive yoyos doing string tricks at the same time, one in each hand.

4A Offstring

The yoyo is NOT tied to the string. You throw it in the air and catch it on the string, kind of like a diabolo.

5A Counterweight / Freehand

One unresponsive yoyo, but instead of tying the string to your finger, you tie it to a small weight (like a rubber dice). You can swing the weight around to do tricks.

picture Picture / String Figures

Tricks where you make a shape with the string while the yoyo spins below, like the Eiffel Tower. They are more about how you wrap the string than how the yoyo spins.
