Trapeze (Man on the Flying Trapeze)
Single-handed string tricks. One yoyo, usually one that does NOT come back on a tug. You land it on strings and move it through different shapes. This is the biggest modern style.
How to do it
- Throw a breakaway.
- As the yoyo swings across, stick out the index finger of your other hand.
- Let the string hit your finger.
- The yoyo will swing around and land on the string between your hands.
- Keep your hands level and apart.
- To get off, swing the yoyo back off the string.
- Bind or tug it back.
Tips
Don't chase the yoyo with your finger. Put your finger where the string is going to be. The string under the yoyo should be flat, not slanted.
The physics
The yoyo's swing carries it onto the string. It keeps spinning the whole time, just like a wheel rolling on a flat surface.
