Barrel Rolls
Single-handed string tricks. One yoyo, usually one that does NOT come back on a tug. You land it on strings and move it through different shapes. This is the biggest modern style.
How to do it
- Get into Split Bottom Mount.
- Roll the yoyo forward over your other finger.
- Keep rolling it over your throw hand finger.
- Make it a smooth circle.
- Stop by reversing or dropping out.
Tips
Don't push the yoyo, just guide it. Keep your hands close enough that the strings stay tight.
The physics
The yoyo loops around your fingers like a wheel rolling around two posts, but it's also still spinning on its own axle.
